Nyanga

Nyanga

a cute & cozy app that downloads manga for you

I made Nyanga for friends who read a lot of manga. Pick a title and it saves one tidy file per volume, ready for whatever reader you like.

Nyanga's Download page with a manga looked up, ready to download 8 volumes

Look it up by name

Type a title and pick it from the results. Its cover, genres and every chapter show up, along with how big each file will be.

One file per volume

Tap the paws to choose what you want. Nyanga fetches a few files at a time, gently so the site isn't flooded, and turns each volume into one CBZ, PDF or EPUB. Close it halfway and it carries on where it stopped next time.

Your own little shelf

Everything you've downloaded lives in the Library: how much of each series you have, a Continue button for anything unfinished, and a “new” badge when chapters come out.

It keeps itself up to date

When there's a new version, one click and it's done. Afterwards a little window tells you what changed, in plain words.

Installing it

Takes a minute, and you only ever do it once. After that it updates itself.

  1. Download the installer

The pink button gets you a file called Nyanga-Setup with a version number on the end.

  2. Open it

Windows doesn't know who I am yet, so it might show a blue “Windows protected your PC” box. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only see that once, and you don't need an admin password.

  3. Find Nyanga in the Start menu

That's all. Search for something to read and the cat takes it from there ✦

  1. Download the AppImage

The pink button gets you a file called Nyanga-x86_64.AppImage. That one file is the whole app, so there's nothing to install.

  2. Let it run

Put it somewhere it can stay, like an Applications folder in your home. Right-click it, open Properties and tick Allow executing file as program. Keep it in a folder you can write to, so it can update itself.

  3. Open it and add it to your menu

Double-click it. In Settings, Add Nyanga to your app menu puts it next to your other apps ✦
