The lists that open from a dropdown now have clean rounded corners on Windows too.

Version 1.8.2

Opening What's new, after an update or from the version in the sidebar, no longer shows a see-through window that keeps changing size first.

  • Dropdown lists no longer have black corners

The lists that open from a dropdown now have clean rounded corners.

  • The scroll bar is wider and easier to grab
  • Release dates in What's new now match your own time zone

An update that came out late at night now shows the day it was where you are.

Version 1.8.1

✓ Fixed

  • The What's new window opens cleanly instead of flickering and jumping first

Tapping the version in the sidebar now opens What's new straight away, without a see-through window that keeps changing size.

Version 1.8.0

✦ New things

  • The installer no longer asks about importing settings from an old copyInstaller

Installing is one step shorter: the page for bringing settings over from an old copy is gone.

✓ Fixed

  • You can leave the Settings page again after changing how search results lookSettings

Switching search results to a grid or a different size no longer makes Settings think you have unsaved changes.

Version 1.7.0

✦ New things

  • Picking a manga now shows what it's aboutDownload

The story appears under the genres, with Read more for long ones.

  • Search results now show each title's genres and ratingDownload

Tags and stars show under each result, with a little cat while they load, and hovering one shows what it's about. The manga you picked shows its rating too.

  • You can now filter searches by genre, kind, status and ratingDownload

Tap Filters next to Search. Tap a genre once to want it and twice to leave it out. With filters on you can leave the name empty to browse.

  • The cover of the manga you picked is bigger and grows with the windowDownload

There's more room to see it clearly, especially in a big window.

  • The supported sites in the sidebar now open the site when tapped

Tap fanfox.net under Supported sites to open it in your browser.

✓ Fixed

  • Scrolling over a dropdown or number box no longer changes it

The page scrolls instead, so values don't flip by accident.

  • The hint under the search bar no longer repeats the site nameDownload

The source dropdown next to it already shows which site you're searching.

Version 1.6.0

✦ New things

  • Search results can now show as a list or a grid of covers, in five sizesDownload

Next to "Pick one" there are now buttons to switch the results between a list and a grid of covers, and a menu to make the covers small, medium, big, large or very large. Nyanga remembers your choice.

Version 1.5.2

✓ Fixed

  • What's new now reads as news instead of commands

The list of changes now says what happened, like "Added a Linux version", instead of reading like a to-do list.

Version 1.5.1

✓ Fixed

  • Moved the back to results button to the leftDownload

The "Back to results" button now sits on the left under the search box, where it's easier to spot.

Version 1.5.0

✦ New things

  • Added a Linux version

Nyanga now runs on Linux too: download the AppImage from the release, make it executable and open it. It updates itself just like on Windows.

  • You can now add Nyanga to your Linux app menuSettings

On Linux, Settings has a button that puts Nyanga in your app menu, and takes it out again. If another app already added it, the button says so.

Version 1.4.1

✓ Fixed

  • The sidebar greeting now only shows for thevi

The "HI LIL GOMIEE!!" line in the sidebar now only appears for the friend it was written for.

Version 1.4.0

✦ New things

  • What's new now shows after an update

The first time Nyanga opens after an update, a little window lists what changed since the version you had before. Click the version at the bottom left to read it again.

✓ Fixed

  • Updates are now checked at the app's new home

Nyanga moved to github.com/nyanga-app/nyanga-app. Updates, release notes and the download links now point there.

Version 1.3.0

✦ New things

  • Manga are now added to or removed from the library with a button, not on every lookupLibrary

Looking a manga up no longer puts it in the library. Use the button next to its title; downloading it still adds it.

  • Tapping the sidebar cat now makes it hop
  • Folders, search text and number fields are now checked before they're used

Folder fields turn red when a path can't work and Save/Download say why; number boxes show their range and snap to it.

  • Added pages to browse more search results
  • Files can now be picked by volume range, and by chapter only for chapters not in a volume

✓ Fixed

  • The sort arrow no longer covers long column titles

The arrow next to a sorted column title could sit on top of longer titles like Chapters.

  • Removing a manga now keeps its download progress and offers to delete its filesLibrary

Removing a manga with downloaded files asks whether to keep or delete them. Kept files still show as downloaded when you open that manga again.

  • A volume's file is now remade when the site adds chapters to it

A file that exists but is missing chapters is built again; the old one stays until the new one is done. Files also no longer pick up stray pages left over from an earlier attempt.

Version 1.2.0

✦ New things

  • Added search: find a manga by name and pick it from the results

Type a title, choose a source and pick it from a list with covers instead of pasting a link. Links still work. A new setting picks the default source.

  • Added an undo button, and settings stay open until changes are saved or undoneSettings

Leaving the settings page with unsaved changes now asks you to save or undo them first.

  • Saved defaults now update the manga open on the download pageSettings

Fields you didn't change on the Download page follow the new defaults; ones you changed stay.

  • Long file lists are now split into pages

Long series show a page of files at a time with arrows to flip.

  • Added one button to select all or none

A filled paw when everything is ticked, an empty one otherwise.

  • Swapped the hearts for cat paw tick boxes
  • You can now choose how many files each page listsSettings
  • The file list now sorts when you tap a column

Tap once for up, twice for down, a third time or right-click to go back to normal. Column titles now line up with their columns.

  • Added more ways to pick files: chapter range, shift-click, drag, quick picks and select page

"First N" is replaced by a chapter range. Shift-click or drag across paws to tick a run of files, pick new, not downloaded or failed files in one go, or tick just the current page.

  • Added a button to open a manga's folder from its cardLibrary

✓ Fixed

  • The settings page now scrolls, so the window fits smaller screensSettings

The settings page used to force the window to be very tall; it scrolls now, with Save and Undo always in view.

Version 1.1.0

✦ New things

  • Clicking the version now shows what's new

The version at the bottom left of the sidebar is now a link: it opens the release notes for the version you have, so you can see what changed after an update.

Version 1.0.0

✦ New things

  • Made Nyanga a Windows app that installs and updates itself

Every push to main now works out the next version from conventional commits and, when there is one, builds a Windows installer with PyInstaller and Inno Setup and publishes it as a GitHub Release. The first one is 1.0.0. The installed app checks for a new release when it opens and every few hours, and shows a card with an Update now button that downloads the installer, runs it silently and reopens the app. Settings and the library move to %APPDATA%\Manga Downloader in the installed app so updates keep them; running from source still keeps them next to the script. The sidebar shows the version.

  • The installer can bring over your settings and library from the Python versionInstaller

The installer has an optional page for people who ran manga_dl.py before: tick the import, pick the old folder, and its settings.json and library folder (history and covers) are copied into %APPDATA%\Manga Downloader. The old folder isn't changed.

  • A put-off or running update now stays at the top right

Pressing Later or closing the update card leaves an Update to x.y.z button with the download size at the top right. While an update downloads with its card closed, that spot shows a new cat hugging a hopping gift box and the progress as a percentage and MB of MB; pressing it brings the card back. The card hides its buttons while the update downloads. If a manga download is running when the update is ready, the app waits and offers Install update instead of closing.

  • Made the cat our mascot and app icon

The app icon, the logo next to the title and the installer now show the happy cat from the loading animations instead of the smiling book.

  • Renamed the app to Nyanga

The app is now called Nyanga (nyan + manga), after the cat mascot. The window, sidebar, installer, Start menu shortcut and exe all use the new name, and settings live in %APPDATA%\Nyanga. The project lives at github.com/RealOrangeKun/nyanga.

✓ Fixed

  • Notification cards now fit their text

The download-finished and update cards could cut off their last line, show up with no height the first time, or leave empty space, because Qt guessed the wrapped text's height at the wrong width. The cards now measure the text at its real width.
